summary:
Both are convinced / that a sudden surge of emotion bound them together. / Beautiful is such a certainty, / but uncertainty is more beautiful. - 'love at first sight', by Wislawa Szymborska, translated by Walter Whipple
author's notes: AU. It's become apparent that I have a love affair with trains and transcience. Caught in the images of this poem. The last line is lifted from Bedtime Stories by J. Pocholo B. Goitia. He owns that line as much as that story owns part of my soul. Also, I used Tiffany's Korean name in this.

The train came to a stop, an imperceptible halt-shift underneath the carriage.

Miyoung stepped off and made her way out of the crowd (her arm brushing past another’s), only to look back at the carriage she just left, a splitsecond, uncertain. There was this ache, this loss, in that spot where she stood.

*

Changmin stared out the carriage windows, wondering about the taste of regret that lingered in his mouth; the warmth on his arm (a caress that never was).

They both knew that it is the worst thing in the world to miss something you've never even had.
