Aeroacrophobia (open challenge: phobia)

Part III of 'Falling is Like This.'

Title: Thief of Hearts
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zhi_er
Word-count: 281 words
Concrit?: Yes
Pairing: Yunjae
Rating: G
Notes: Aeroacrophobia is the fear of open high places.

Some people are afraid of open places. The wide expanse of sky with no shelter is a harsh reminder of one’s vulnerability, made of a fragile body and an even more fragile heart. The thought of exposing oneself, bared for all to see at the mercy of the cruel elements of Mother nature and human nature is enough to leave the bravest weak in the knees.

Some people are afraid of heights. They fear the euphoric rise to the top, until they are almost next to the stars, just shy of grabbing onto their comets of dreams and desires with their hands, only to inevitably freefall to the bottom, at 9.81 meters per second squared, until all that’s left when the dust has settled is themselves picking up the shattered shards of their bodies and hearts.

When he kisses him, lips on lips and placing his heart in the other’s hands, he never felt this exposed before, never risen this high off the ground. Yet he’s no longer afraid of open spaces or heights, not when the other is kissing back, trying to express years of barely suppressed feelings with hands in his hair and mouth devouring his, and he’s finally realized – that the other had placed his heart in his hands all along as well. And so they rise, high above the celestial bodies, because this feeling can only be called heaven. And even if they will crash into the ground, or be torn apart by stormy clouds in the open field, they are no longer afraid – because even if they were to shatter into pieces, their molecules will still find each other and they will never, ever be apart.

Nice imagery in this!

I wasn't sure which title you intended for it, so I put both in the open challenge wrap-up post.^^
